Book Cover Research

For the cover of the necronomicon I need to apply it to the whole book as opposed to just the stories I have chosen to illustrate. I would like to stick with a simple book cover to convey the mystery that seems a recurring theme throughout Lovecraft's stories - consistently we are left asking questions that will never be answered.

I also looked at alternative covers for the necronomicon to understand what could be done and to avoid plagiarising an existing cover.

This is the cover of the book that I own. I personally do not like this cover, it seems too 'slapped together' with the multiple different fonts and the amount of negative space.

I feel like this cover is a little more effective, with the subtle reference to Necronomicon imagery shown through the logo on the front and a simple design, though I feel the blue and dark brown may not be the most suited colours for this book.

I feel that this is another book that works well through the use of blood red and black colours and the subtle figure in the background - this is my personal favourite of all the book designs.

I would like to reference Cthulhu on the front of my book cover, with it being one of the most iconic and remembered Lovecraft characters; I would like people to immediately recognise this book for its content of monsters and feel that Cthulhu is the best way to do it.
