Aesthetic of the Sketchbook

With the idea really set in stone now that I was creating a book on the theme of "Winter Woodland", I wanted to create a book that matched the theme, and so looked into the appearance of hand made sketchbooks (bound by leather, suede, etc. - any natural materials)

My favourite feature of this book was the material wrapping around it - I wanted the sketchbook to close properly without being a typical board-bound sketchbook or for it to have any definite fastenings.

This was an interesting and unique concept - bound with wood either side. However, by the time I'd been looking into these things, I was unsure of whether or not I'd be able to accomplish this in the time given.

I also liked the idea of my sketchbook having maybe some sort of accessory on the front - I didn't want to go with buttons, I was considering something more along the lines of pebbles or tree bark.
