Sketchbook 3
This sketchbook was most-way filled during our trip to Flamingo Land - we visited the zoo and aquarium portion to create some studies of the animals there. This was my first time drawing fish, which was interesting because the scaley effect was difficult to recreate. Part way through the book I switched to a different style for a new effect - using as few lines as possible to create images of animals. I feel like the work was successful but not exactly to my taste.
Sketchbook 4
It was in this book that I started to look at animal hybrids - creating my own creature from two different animals for the A3 Final Pieces tasks. In this book, two of my four final pieces were created - the flamingo fish and the rotter. We also visited the museum archives to look at taxidermy to draw - it was interesting to see bugs up close and be able to draw them without them moving all over the place, despite my conflicted feelings on taxidermy, I did enjoy that part of this module.
