Rotter: Ram and Otter
Thanks to its name sounding like something from a horror movie, I took inspiration to create it as a demonic creature using a faux Biblical reference that I made up myself to create theory behind it. This piece was done in felt tip pen and water to create an interesting steely-blue colour.
Flamingo Fish
Using the means of monoprinting to create a strange fish-bird hybrid - the lines did not come out very strong once the pink colour was over it, so I had to go over them again in fineliner. This is what I feel to be the least successful of the four.
Catfae
Based around faerie creatures, this is a mix between a cat and a deer. I took the opportunity, since the scale of this work is bigger than what I'm used to, to use promarkers for the first time. It was difficult and time consuming, but fun. Since the cat looks like magical forest folk, I decided to create a very colourful background to go with it.
Foxrabbit
This is what I feel to be my most successful A3 piece - it was the final one, so I had gotten more used to working on a larger scale. Because of its faded and washed out colours on the foxrabbit itself, I used a jet black background to bring the colours out more - I furthered the shadows by using etching with a fineliner.
